The newly weds Aishwarya and Abhishek first went to the Nanawati Hospital to seek the blessings of Grandma Teji Bachchan. Last Sunday i.e. 22nd, the couple went to Tirupati Balaji to seek the blessings of the Lord Venkateshwara. They spent about half an hour in the temple, meanwhile the other devotees faced a hard time outside the temple.
The couple is expected to leave for their honeymoon today, the destination is not yet disclosed , the rumors are on that the couple is heading for the Europe for their Honeymoon.    Â
The atmosphere was full of ecstasy and expectations; The fans and media were waiting impatiently,the venue was the Jalsa and the Prateeksha. The name of the venues were also living up to their meaning as the Jalsa meaning the Ceremony and the Prateeksha meaning the wait where Aishwarya was waiting for her beloved would be husband Abhishek.
The Marriage procession started a little after 5 pm when the bridegroom Abhishek emerged astride a white mere with sehra on his head. Soon he was seated in awaiting car and taken to the Prateeksha. The wedding took place in the Prateeksha with full grandeur. There that marriage with Aishwarya took place at the wee hours of the Saturday the newly wed couple returned to the Jalsa.
Huge gathering of the dignitaries were present to greet and bless the newly weds. The Notables were Sachin Tendulkar with his family, The Ambanis, Yash Chopra, Preity Zinta and host of others.Â

It was a day for would be bride   Aishwarya to apply Mehndi on her palms, in the name of her future husband Abhishek. As expected the ceremony took place in the residence of Aishwarya. It was made a low key affair by the Bachchans.
The ceremony which has to start at 4pm started a little late after 5pm. The Sister of would be groom Abhishek, led the procession to deliver the Mehndi to the house of Aishwarya. She was accompanied by mother Jaya and family friend Sonali Bendre in a car and a Volvo bus. The Mehndi was specially brought in from the Sate of Rajasthan, in particular from Sojat. The Sojat Mehndi is famous world over for its quality.
At the same time the parents of Aishwarya, Vrinda and Krishnaraj Rai left for the residence of the Bachchans, there the Mehndi ceremony was presided over by Mrs. Kirron Kher.
Meanwhile it has been reported that Maulvis at the famous Dargah of Ajmer would pray for the happy married life of the couple. Â
Today is the Grand Finale - the most awaited event of the year - marriage of Aishwarya and Abhishek.
The atmosphere was electric, venue ‘Prateeksha’ and ‘Jalsa’ was surrounded by 400 + security guards and police parties, media and press denied entry, all workers and staff wearing identity badges and special gate passes the occasion Sangeet ceremony of the hottest celebrity couple of the Hindi film industry Ashwarya Rai and Abhishek Bachchan.Â
 The list of the invitees included select and the elites of the society and the film industry. Yesterday in the afternoon all of a sudden media and TV studios went on a high alert after getting news that somebody looking like Salman Khan is present in the premises, later on it was revealed that the person concerned was the old time buddy of Abhishek. His name was Dileep and he arrived from Hong Kong to attend the marriage ceremony of his friend.  Amithabh Bachchan was personally present to supervise everything and receive the guests.
The first to reach for the occasion include Amar Singh, Ajay Devgan with wife Kajol and Tina Ambani. Other dignitaries include Romesh Sharma, Manoj Desai, Ritu Nanda, Sanjay Dutt, Sunil Shetty, Rishi Kapoor with wife Neetu Singh and Preity Zinta. Sachin Tendulkar could not attend the function but his wife Anjali and the kids were present.
The most surprising and the star attraction of the night was the Dance Number from the film Kabhie Kabhie presented before the mesmerized guests by none other than Amitabh and wife Jaya in person.
Today is the Mehndi ceremony.
Clock is ticking by and the D day is approaching fast. There is less than a week’s time left for the functions to begin to start the most awaited event of the year – Ashwarya/ Abhishek marriage ceremony. The Mehndi ceremony to take place on the 18th and on 20th the marriage would take place. To invite the guests for these ceremonies the invitation cards have already started their journey.  The Invitation card is also a special one exclusively designed for the celebrity couple. The invitation card is in the shape of a book which is golden-fawn colored and inscribing the two A’s entwined with each other. The book unfurls to the invitation to the Mehndi ceremony on the 18th and the marriage ceremony on 20th, it contains few couplets in Sanskrit besides some poems penned down by the great poet and grandpa of Abhishek late Harivansh Rai Bachchan. The List of the invitees till date includes Amar Singh, Anil & Tina Ambani, Subroto and Swapna Roy, Sanjay Dutt, Anupam and Kirron Kher.                                                                         Â
Orders have been placed for the delivery of the special Mehndi pouches for the Mehndi ceremony of the Ashwarya by the Bachchan family. The Mehndi for the occasion is being procured from the Rajasthan. Over 15 Kilos of the specially prepared Mehndi scheduled to be delivered to the Ashwarya’s residence till 15 of April.    Â
While the Bachchan family is making the marriage a low key affair may be due to the ill health of Mrs. Teji Bachchan, who is admitted in a hospital. The house of the Ash is buzzing with activities. Mother Brinda is very busy in preparing the list of the invitees and inviting the guests on phone for the ceremonies to be held in Aishwarya’s home which would include the ceremonies like Mehendi, Haldi and Sangeet etc. The list of invitees includes relatives and close friends of the family and among Aishwarya’s close friend circles.
The Main event is scheduled to be held at the Bachchan’s old residence ‘Prateeksha’. For the marriage ceremony it is still not clear that who the invitees from the Aishwarya’s side are. Meanwhile lot of purchasing has been done from Lucknow and Varanasi which included the wedding lehengas and exquisite Benarasi sarees for Aishwarya and Exclusive Kurtas were summoned from the city of Kolkata for Abhishek. The News is taking rounds that a Kolkata based designer has take charge to dress up the couple for the marriage ceremony.
After the much hyped romance and engagement and floating of many grapevines about the date of the marriage and venue, finally the news is out. The much awaited Ash-Abhi marriage is going to take place on April 20 , 2007. According the sources close to both families the marriage might take place in Mumbai only, in the residence of the Bachchan’s and would have a very selective list of invitees, which may not include not more than 15 to 20 of the closest friends and family members from both families.
It is believed that the medical condition of Mrs. Teji Bachchan is mainly responsible for making the whole affair such a low key event. Even people hoping for the direct coverage of the marriage online or in the television would be disappointed.
Meanwhile the astrologers stamped their approval on the proposed date of April 20 as a very auspicious day for the couple.
There is no news for the couples honeymoon plans yet.
